German
Vasquez Rubio
Classical Guitars
Music Folk is proud to announce that we are
offering classical guitars by the renowned Luthier German
Vasquez Rubio, courtesy of Guitars International and Armin
Kelly.
Over his career, maestro Rubio has developed an international
following. His Hauser model won first prize in the concert
guitar category of the Concurs Nacional De Constructares y
Ejucuntantos de Guitarras. His Instruments are used by many
of today's top concert artists, including St. Louis' own Hanser/McClellan
Guitar Duo.
We have decided to carry Rubio's popular "Estudio"
model. These fine instruments come in both cedar
and spruce
tops, with back and sides of palo escrito (Mexican rosewood),
which gives them a similar character to Brazilian rosewood.
These affordable guitars are excellent recital instruments
as well, with a very rich color pallet and wide dynamics.
Classical
Guitars by Sasha Radicic
We are excited to have two classical guitars by local luthier
Sasha Radicic. Sasha started building in 25 years ago in his
native Bosnia before emigrating to Germany where he worked
in the "Musik Hartwig" guitar shop. He moved to
St. Louis in 1998, and started the European Luthier School,
where, in addition to building his own instruments, he teaches
the art to aspiring builders.
Sasha's guitars are based on those by Antonio de Torres and
Santos Hernandez, whose instruments he has had the opportunity
to study in person. We have two examples of his work. The
first, his Concert
model, made with a cedar top and Honduran rosewood back
and sides, is his medium size model. The second, his Grand
Concert, is a smaller instrument, with European spruce
top and palo escrito (Mexican rosewood) back and sides. Both
instruments are made entirely by hand, including the rosette,
and are finished in french polish. Both instruments feature
exquisite craftsmanship, and have a powerful, refined sound.

Other New Items
We now stock magnetic pickups for dobro and acoustic guitar

We also recently got in a new playing stand for mountain
dulcimer. It is a light weight wood table with metal telescoping
legs. The stand disassembles easily for travel.
