Here is a Washburn "Lyre Guitar" from around 1900. Janet Boyer, owner of Music Folk at the time, bought this instrument from an antique dealer. Stringing is standard, there are no extra harp guitar bass strings. The arms of the body are hollow.

It has an interesting bridge. Strings enter from the front and wrap around the bridge pins and over the saddle:
