As part
of a continuing series, Music Folk presents an evening of
song from local and regional songwriters. Songwriter Night
3 features Hilary Scott from Columbia, MO, St. Louis songwriting
veteran Tom Wood, and Irish-born songwriter Patsy O'Brien.
Hilary
Scott is a musician and songwriter on the rise. Based in Columbia,
MO, Hilary has developed a strong following in the region
including opening for Beth Orton and Jonatha Brooke. Her music
crosses genres easily and cannot be easily defined. Acoustic-driven,
yet powerful, Hilary's songs are haunting and soulful.Tom
Wood has successfully created a unique songwriting vision
by combining his rhythmic musical style with his innate lyrical
depth. His current project, Western Soul, accurately defines
those influences and visions in their live performances. Tom
has released four collections of his music over the last several
years.
Patsy
O'Brien, born in Cork, Ireland, is well skilled in Irish music,
but his passion lies in his own songs. His debut release,
Admission, has received accolades from the media on both sides
of the Atlantic. Patsy's music embraces his heritage but merges
it with more modern influences to create a new style uniquely
his own. Now based in Connecticut, Patsy will be joining us
for this show as part of his current tour.
Each
of these musicians will play a 40-minute set featuring their
own songcraft. CDs will be available from each artist. There
will be plenty of time to mingle and talk songwriting as well.
Songwriter Night 4 is scheduled for Saturday, November 13.

are $5 and will be available June 1. Tickets may be purchased
